The 7-Day “See The Need…Meet The Need” Challenge
Sunday during our morning worship experience I presented a challenge. The challenge is very simple – SEE THE NEED – MEET THE NEED. In other words, look for a need that someone has and do whatever it takes to meet their need. And do this for the next SEVEN days. We are calling it “THE 7-DAY SEE A NEED-MEET A NEED CHALLENGE.”
It may be as simple as listening to a friend who has been dealing with a lot of junk lately. It might mean taking a meal to someone who is sick. Regardless of the need, do everything in your power to meet it, even if it means having to partner with some other friends to meet the need.
Why would I give such a challenge? The answer is simple. We are commanded by Jesus to do so. In Luke 10:30-37 Jesus tells the story of the Good Samaritan. In this story a stranger sees a guy hurting on the side of the road, so he stops and helps the guy out. Jesus ends this story by saying, “Go and do the same.” That’s why we need to SEE THE NEED and MEET THE NEED.
I would like to challenge you to join us on this challenge. As you do, I would like to hear how God is opening doors for you to meet the needs of those around you. You can comment on this blog or you can send an email to aaron@therevolutionchurch.me.
Opportunity at “Oakland in October”
This weekend is the annual “Oakland in October” festival, which is hosted by the Oakland Regional Chamber of Commerce. At this festival you will find great music, local vendors and fun for all ages. We will be sponsoring a booth with games for the kids and prizes for all ages.
We are asking for volunteers to help with leading games, greeting folks and passing out bags of candy. This event will start at 8 a.m. and will end about 4 p.m. You can volunteer by clicking here or contact Brenda Tate at btatesw@yahoo.com. If you can serve for two hours or more, your service will definitely make a difference.
Also, I have some EXCITING news. Our worship band will be playing at the “Oakland in October” main stage at 12:30 p.m. This is another great opportunity that God has provided for us to make much of Jesus and share the vision of our church. We would like to encourage you all to make plans to serve at our booth and come support our worship band.
